Oscar Movie Marathon(s) at Mickey Doyle’s

Mickey's Marathon
Yes, you can see all four of these classics in one day!

We here at the LFC were getting a little worried about Sunday movies at Mickey Doyle’s on Central Street. It seemed that their film days disappeared around the end of 2008. However, it looks like they are coming back with a vengeance, starting this Sunday, February 8. As part of what the restaurant is billing as classic movie marathons, Mickey’s will screen past Oscar winning films all day long on Sundays.

Uh, did we mention that all the films are FREE?!?!?!?

Here’s the lineup for this Sunday, February 8:

1:30 p.m. – Gigi [1958]
A Parisian girl is raised to be a kept woman but dreams of love and marriage. Cast: Leslie Caron, Maurice Chevalier, Louis Jourdan. Dir: Vincente Minnelli.

3:30 p.m. – The Quiet Man [1952]
An Irish ex-boxer retires to Ireland and searches for the proper wife. Cast: John Wayne, Maureen O’Hara, Barry Fitzgerald. Dir: John Ford.

5:45 p.m. – Roman Holiday [1953]
A runaway princess in Rome finds love with a reporter who knows her true identity. Cast: Gregory Peck, Audrey Hepburn, Eddie Albert. Dir: William Wyler.

8:00 p.m. – A Tree Grows in Brooklyn [1945]
A girl in the slums tries to find her way with the help of her devoted mother and alcoholic father. Cast: Dorothy McGuire, Peggy Ann Garner, James Dunn. Dir: Elia Kazan.

This is a great opportunity to see wonderful films, and thanks to Mike and the nice folks at Mickey Doyle’s for bringing back film Sundays, and then some! Hope to see you there.
