Music On Film Event: “Theremin: An Electronic Odyssey” with live theremin performance by Jon Bernhardt (check out Jon’s theremin group “The Lothars” at www.wobblymusic.com)

Thursday, November 13 was a bit of a rainy night in Lowell, but that didn’t stop about 40 or so folks from coming out to the Pollard Library for a special screening of “Theremin: An Electronic Odyssey” and a live performance by Somerville thereminist, Jon Bernhardt. Jon was incredibly gracious and wow-ed the crowd with his fabulous, left-handed, Moog-made theremin! (I don’t think I’ll ever hear “Video Killed the Radio Star” the same way again!)

Thanks to everyone who came out and supported our screening — it was so wonderful to see some new faces, and some familiar ones! It’s great that so many of you are becoming regulars at our events; again, the support means a great deal.

Our last film of the Music On Film series will be “Searching for the Wrong-Eyed Jesus” on Sunday, December 7 at 2 p.m. at the Lowell National Historical Park Visitor Center, 246 Market Street. Our special musical guest will be acoustic string band Appalachian Still. Check them out!

By the way, for those of you who are hungry for more information on all things theremin, drop by Theremin World — you will not be disappointed. Turns out that our Pollard Library performance was just several days away from the 15th anniversary of Lev Termin’s (inventor of the theremin) passing on November 3. What an incredible coincidence…
