Quilts in Women’s Lives presents a series of portraits of contemporary quiltmakers who, as they speak about their work, reveal the passion and values behind this continuing tradition of quiltmaking. Seven women, among them a California Menonite, an African-American Mississippian, and a Bulgarian immigrant, talk about their art and the influence on it. They describe how this work has sprung from their daily lives to become an art form which allows them the joy of making patter, of self expression, and of creating meaning in their lives.

This 30-minute documentary features renowned Bulgarian quilter Radka Donnell, the artist at the center of the NEQM’s current exhibit “Radka Donnell: The Work of Touch.” Though the film Quilts in Women’s Lives was created almost 30 years ago, the emotion and artistry of these remarkable women is timeless and continues to inspire.

Come on out and support our friends at the New England Quilt Museum and their remarkable exhibit. There is no charge for the screening, but admission to the museum is required.
