FIRST GLANCE: Australian director Richard Williamson, maker of “The Long Night”

Australian filmmaker Richard Williamson

We were first introduced to award-winning Australian filmmaker Richard Williamson in 2009 at Montreal’s world renowned Fantasia Festival, a celebration of international genre, horror, fantasy, and thriller feature films and shorts. His 2008 12-minute short, The Long Night, is the piece that got us hooked. Its impressed plenty of other film buffs, too, playing at 12 international festivals in addition to Fantasia, including Screamfest LA and the NYC Horror Film Festival. Williamson’s most recently completed project is a 19-minute short titled Status, which hopefully brings him more success as he continues to hone his skills at crafting the film short. It was great to finally track down this emerging artist on the web — heads up, Richard, we’ll be watching!
