THE INNOCENTS, a chilling adaptation of Henry James’ novella “The Turn of the Screw,” is one of the most frightening films ever made. Set in 19th century England, this gothic ghost story centers around a governess (Deborah Kerr) taking care of two orphans in a foreboding Victorian mansion. As eerie apparitions appear and the childrens’ behavior becomes strange, the governess begins to wonder about the fate of the previous governess and her sadistic lover. Could it be that their restless spirits are conspiring to corrupt the innocence of the children, or is this “haunting” a product of her own fears and imaginations?
We’ll experience this incredible film inside Farmer Dave’s atmospheric barn! Bring your own lawn chairs or beach chairs for comfort and dress warmly (warm fleece blankets recommended so you can get cozy). Complimentary snacks will be available, but feel free to bring your own snacks and favorite movie treats. While this film displays no graphic violence, it does create a mood, and may not be suitable for young children.
* FYI for all you horror fans: You will definitely recognize the compelling young actors Pamela Franklin and Martin Stephens from other terror classics, such as The Legend of Hell House and Village of the Damned!
Love this movie! Looking forward to it.
