Woods Hole Film Festival Starts This Weekend

Trucker

Summer in New England may be the perfect time to get outside and enjoy the weather, but it’s also a great time to catch one of the many film festivals in the area. This Saturday, July 25, the Woods Hole Film Festival begins its 8-day run of independent films with a screening of Trucker followed by a Q&A with director James Mottern and star Michelle Monaghan. The fun continues through the following Saturday, August 1, with dozens of feature films and shorts, not to mention a crapload of filmmakers in attendance.

The Woods Hole Festival really puts the indie in indie film festival. I’m by no means up on all the latest films, but the features on their extensive list are all new to me. According to its web site, Woods Hole is the oldest independent film festival on Cape Cod and the islands. Maybe I’m wrong, but I couldn’t imagine that the competition is that fierce. From the looks of it, though, this festival is worth the two-hour trek south.
