In addition to The Invention of Lying‘s grand premiere today, there are a couple of other flicks celebrating releases on October 2. One of them, Zombieland, is right up our alley — hopefully it’s as intriguing as the trailer and lives up to the hype. Honestly, it could go either way. But it’s great to see Woody back on the screen.
In summary: Kick some zombie butt, Woody. And give us zombie fans something different.
The next premiere is a shout out to our good friend Rachel and co-conspirator on Mill City Mayhem, our upcoming horror film marathon. Rachel is a roller derby goddess …. that being said, we’re not sure how on the mark this particular film, Whip It, really is to the roller derby world. But director Drew Barrymore is a favorite of mine (better director than actress, I must admit), so I’m going to give it the benefit of the doubt. This film could be a girly, fuzzy, feel good film, and I suppose there’s nothing wrong with that. But I think Rachel would probably say that there’s a lot of derby grunge missing.
In summary: Derby girls gone wild. Well, MAYBE…..
