Here are some brief local updates on the Lowell film scene:
We’re sad to say that the Sunday Buffet and a Movie series at Mickey’s Bar & Grill on Central Street has ceased. Our friend Mike Doyle has run into a problem that we’ve experienced at our own screenings at local restaurants: how to provide a comfortable movie-watching atmosphere, but still maintain food and drink service at your bar area. It IS a challenge, and some places just aren’t condusive to having a bar crowd alongside a movie crowd. Mike did his best, and offers up his regrets to anyone who was looking forward to the rest of his film lineup. We thank you, Mike, for giving it your all. Of course, if the situation changes, we’ll keep everyone posted.
On to another brief tidbit, this one about the upcoming, exciting Lowell Film Festival. Festival organizers are working hard at getting a rough schedule together, and in doing so, have had to change up the dates of the Fest, which WAS due to run April 1 – 3, 2010.
We’ll post the latest news on the Lowell Film Festival once we hear it, and trust us, you’ll want to know the deets, as this year’s marvelous theme is Hollywood and the Great Depression: Ten-cent Entertainment During Difficult Times. It will be a great event!
Stay tuned for updates, and thanks for your support of all our film events in Lowell!
