“I began shooting this film 40 years ago,” says director Lynn Hershman Leeson in the trailer of her latest work !Women Art Revolution. After hitting the film festival circuit and being picked up for distribution by Zeitgeist Films, !W.A.R. will enjoy a theatrical premiere June 1 – 8 at New York City’s IFC Center, THE home to indie film. Each IFC screening will feature an introduction by a special guest for added impact, something we always like to see at film events. Fortunately for the Boston area, !W.A.R. will have a local run at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts from June 15 – 19 as part of their Art on Film series. Click here to see the MFA’s Art on Film lineup (June 1 – 30), which also includes a personal favorite documentary, Hey Boo: Harper Lee and To Kill a Mockingbird.
And speaking of great film series events, now is the perfect time to remind everyone that the Lowell Film Collaborative is hosting its own 2011 Film & the Arts Series here in Lowell in collaboration with the Arts League of Lowell (ALL). Our 4th film in the 6-part series, I Remember Better When I Paint, will screen exactly ONE WEEK from today on Tuesday, June 7 at 7PM (doors at 6:30PM) at the ALL Arts Gallery in the heart of downtown. We’re welcoming a very special panel of guests for the event so mark your calendars and please join us — click here for complete details!
