Hot on the heels of their successful collaboration on a November 21 community screening of Food, Inc., The Lowell Film Collaborative, Life Alive Urban Oasis & Cafe, and Tufts New Entry Sustainble Farming Project/WorldPEAS CSA will continue to spread the good word on sustainability and supporting local food growers while keeping a close watch on those corporate food giants that keep a strangle hold on all us consumers. We relish bringing films to local cafe’s and restaurants for what we call our “Food & Film Series,” and this time around, an Agricultural theme will put the focus on documentary films and film shorts that explore the nature of food and what we can do to support healthy eating within our families and communities. We plan on enhancing screenings with guest visits by local farmers and growers and maybe even some special menu items provided by our friends at Life Alive.
Here’s a sneak peek at our working list of film titles we’ll be choosing from — if you have any suggestions or comments, please feel free to share them with us!
– “King Corn“
– “Big River“
– “Fresh“
– “Eating Alaska“
– “Asparagus: Stalking the American Life“ (featured in the 2009 Lowell Film Festival)
– Film Shorts from the Media That Matters Film Festival
We hope you’ll join us at Life Alive starting January 2010, bring friends and family, and delight in delicious, healthy food as you enjoy these film offerings. Check back for updates on the series as plans solidify or join our e-newsletter list to get updates via e-mail.
See you at the movies!
