“TerrorThon ’10” comes to the Somerville Theater, Sept. 24-Oct. 2

Firstly ….

Thank you to EVERYONE who came out to our final outdoor film of the season this past Tuesday! How great it was to see some new faces at our No Impact Man screening — your support and presence were amazing. Thanks so much for a truly wonderful night!

Now, on to film news of a DIFFERENT sort.

TerrorThon ’10 Comes to the Somerville Theater
September 24 – October 2

As some of you may recall, last year around this time, the LFC was promoting our own spooktacular event titled Mill City Mayhem 2009. The screening was an LFC first and a Lowell first, featuring 8 hours of the finest horror films, curated by the LFC and some special event partners. We hosted the event at Second Wind Cafe which was owned by our dear friend and supporter Shannon Goor. Sadly, Second Wind has shut its doors and an amazing indie cafe space was lost to the community.

This fall and spring, the LFC has several film screenings in the works (updates to come soon), so our hopes for hosting another Mill City Mayhem had to be postponed. Hopefully we’ll be able to get this event back in Lowell next year so keep up-to-date with us on that.

In case you are itchin’ to get into some horribly fabulous, terrorizing cinema, you need look no further than the Somerville Theater in Davis Square, just about 35 minutes away from us here in Lowell. Curated by J.Cannibal and film festival guru Garen Daly (curator and organizer of the 24-Hour Boston Science Fiction Marathon), TerrorThon ’10 is offering up 9 days of thrills, chills, and gruesomely great surprises. They have an amazing lineup, with many of the films having repeat screenings throughout the 9-day run. We know next weekend is already packed full of great activity, both in Lowell and beyond (including Lowell Open Studios and Portsmouth’s Telluride-by-the-Sea film festival), but who doesn’t love a weekend calendar filled with such exotic plans?

Get ready to get into the spirit of the Halloween season — one of our favorite film times of the year — and make it out to TerrorThon ’10. Be sure to check out the official kick-off to the ‘Thon on Saturday, September 25: the amazing Spookadelica Spookshow features some great live performances, including Black Cat Burlesque and other not-to-be-believed onstage happenings.
