“The Fighter” hits the front page of this month’s Merrimack Valley Magazine

The highly anticipated Hollywood-produced, filmed-in-Lowell flick The Fighter is gaining momentum! Interviews and press coverage are making the rounds, so it makes perfect sense that Merrimack Valley Magazine (MVM) — the area’s hottest glossy quarterly mag — has none other than Micky Ward on the cover and two Fighter-centric features. The cover story, penned by Beth Daigle, focuses on Ward with local insight on The Fighter in Lowell and its impact on the City’s boxing scene. The second story, “Fighting City,” was written by our friend and MVM contributor Christine Lewis, who passionately takes us on a tour of Lowell’s rich boxing history.

If you’d like to get well-rounded news on the region, we recommend a subscription to MVM, which also showcases great Lowell flavor: our dear friend and Lowell photographer Adrien Bisson does many of the photo shoots for the magazine; restauranteur Scott Plath (owner of Cobblestones & Moonstones) has his say on good eats in each issue; and fellow foodie and LFC supporter Kathleen Pierce is also a guest writer. The current Nov/Dec issue of Merrimack Valley Magazine can be found at many local news stands and supermarkets — MVM sightings have been made at Hannaford’s, so keep your eyes peeled.
